Australia’s leader in data management and reporting software, Gruntify, has launched a new feature within its popular platform that will transform the way technology is used for public safety.
The ‘facial recognition’ feature will have huge applications for a variety of projects across multiple industries, but will particularly revolutionise projects relating to missing people, AMBER alerts, law enforcement, ID management, marketing, and security.
Gruntify Founder Igor Stjepanovic says the facial recognition technology uses a series of machine learning tools which can be automated in real-time, minimising human intervention to fast-track urgent jobs.
“The technology can look at a picture and find any faces in it, pick out and measure the unique facial features and compare the measurements to the database to determine a match,” Mr Stjepanovic said.
“The introduction of facial recognition is just the start on our machine learning journey. We plan to develop and train algorithms to identify wildfires, flooding, urban footprints, flora, fauna and more.
“Everyday I am amazed at the incredible variety of projects that Gruntify is assisting with globally, the potential application of the Gruntify technology is limitless.”
The constant development of the platform’s technical range creates unique opportunities for Gruntify to be utilised in a variety of projects, from crowdsourcing reports of natural disasters to saving businesses time on reporting processes through a snap-and-tap application that reports real-time image and location data.
Gruntify CEO Jamie Leach said the company will maintain their position as global innovative leaders in mobile, cloud and geospatial technology as long as they continue to react to consumer demand.
“We continue to grow at a rapid rate because we listen to what our customers want and quickly adapt our technologies to fit their needs. The inclusion of facial recognition and other recent expansions to our platform opens Gruntify up to a whole new world of opportunity.”
Gruntify has already teamed up with the likes of Microsoft and QUT to work on projects ranging from artificial intelligence to tracking jaguars in the Peruvian Amazon.
The introduction of machine learning to the platform follows a series of new offerings including the Nearby Request tool, which removes the risk of duplicate reports, and enables field staff to quickly identify what, where and when other requests or reports have been submitted in their local area, saving businesses hours in reporting processes each week.
Ms Leach says that a strong customer base in Australia has allowed the company to spend time on a range of exciting projects around the world.
“The last 12 months we have seen an incredible amount of growth and have had companies from every corner of the world expressing interest in our product,” Ms Leach said.
