Mega Equipment Auction in Western Coalfields

Mega Equipment Auction in Western Coalfields

Leading Australian resources auctioneers, Hassalls, is preparing for the comprehensive two-day sale of heavy mining equipment from the Western Coalfields of NSW as part of the liquidation of a major mining Contractor.

A marathon two-day auction beginning tomorrow 27 October in Charbon, will see wheel loaders, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, road trucks, workshop equipment, light vehicles, pumps, tools and much more sold.

Ferrier Hodgson is the appointed liquidator for Big Rim and has called upon Hassalls for its in-depth knowledge and experience of the resources sector as well as its network of global buyers.

Big Rim has suffered through the closure of Coalpac which went into liquidation after its expansion applications were rejected because of perceived risk to geo-heritage formations in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area.

“There is no doubt that right now the mining sector is irrational, but we can say there is strong urgency to sell this fleet at the auction. This is a genuine liquidation sale with everything to be sold at the auctions,” said Hassalls General Manager Steve Wall.

“The assets have also been valued to meet the market today so buyers can expect exceptionally good buying at this auction,” Mr Wall said.

“We believe most interest will be domestic and come from the regional quarries, crushing operators, the agricultural sector and smaller contractors in the regional areas mainly due to location, value and type.”

Mr Wall said the mining downturn had affected many Australian businesses and workers and the need to manage resource disposals effectively was ever more important.

“Liquidation is always a very sensitive matter with so many people and business affected. For this reason it is crucial that we have strong knowledge and strong track record,” Mr Wall said.

“With disposals of this type we must have the ability to work with the mine owners, landlords and mining companies safely and with good processes around demobilising the goods.

“Industry knowledge around secondary markets - geographical and behavioural, global buyer databases and positive and negative industry trends are all vital tools in Hassalls’ toolkit.

The first auction will take place from 10am Tuesday 27 October at Coopers Rd Charbon.
