From raincoats and umbrellas to sledgehammers and axes, cold-water bubblers and ice machines to power tools and drilling bits, or utes and trucks to porta-potties and pie warmers, there really is something for everyone at Hassalls' next on-site auction.
On Wednesday 3 February, the Central Queensland town of Gracemere will play host to the latest in a series of ground breaking on-site auctions of equipment from the Bechtel Curtis Island LNG Project.
“These auctions have been a big hit since we kicked off late last year and they’re only getting better. We’re talking about $50 million worth of equipment over the full series of auctions,” said Hassalls General Manager Steve Wall.
“The sheer amount of quality resources we have to sell is quite extraordinary, and based on last year’s turnout we’re expecting to see this gear move fast.”
“Whether you’re coming in person or joining us via webcast, plenty of value products are up for grabs and will sell quick.”
Mr Wall said he expects a large turnout following ground-breaking auctions Hassalls held in the Central Queensland town late last year, which saw millions of dollars worth of equipment sold off at value prices.
“Last year, hundreds of savvy buyers came out in force to each sale and got some of the best value there is on quality equipment,” Mr Wall said.
Hassalls is conducting a series of Curtis Island LNG Project auctions on behalf of NYSE-listed Liquidity Services, which has over 7,000 clients, three million registered buyers and achieves over $1 billion in sales.
Mr Wall said the sale of equipment from the project was attracting interest from local business and farmers through to international buyers seeking to fit out other mining projects.
“We see a lot of local residents at our auctions too, who are looking for good value on smaller items like toolboxes and utes,” Mr Wall said.
Last year was an especially big year for Curtis Island equipment auctions which included a charity auction ordered by Bechtel and managed by Hassalls. The auction, which was restricted to current and former workers from the project, saw more than $100,000 raised for the Leukemia Foundation in December 2015.
