Eagle Boys has confirmed its sponsorship of the Mackay Community Accommodation and Support Agency (CASA) pizza night aimed at reaching the city’s homeless citizens.
The Queensland Council of Social Services is funding the ‘Home for Good Registry Week’ being run in attempt to ease the state’s homeless problem.
CASA has been appointed to coordinate the Mackay activities designed to reach out and survey as many homeless people as possible, including those individuals and families living in caravan parks, boarding houses, living with family or couch surfing.
It is anticipated the surveys will identify gaps in the community’s housing, health and support service, build a register of people who are homeless and provide them with vital information to help accommodate and support each person and family.
Eagle Boys has confirmed it will make a Happiness Fund delivery to the pizza night being held at the Salvation Army, 5pm on Thursday (16 April), in a bid to aid this very important service.
Nick Vincent, Eagle Boys General Manager Retail, said it was important for the whole community to support individuals whose personal circumstances have left them without a permanent home.
“We welcome our chance to make a contribution to efforts aimed at ending the cycle of homelessness,” he said.
“Hopefully, the events held over the week will encourage the homeless community to open up and share their experiences and insight into improvements required.”
CASA is coordinating the following activities as part of ‘Home for Good Registry Week’:
- Monday 13 April – 7am, BBQ breakfast at Blue Water Quay.
- Tuesday 14 April – 9am to 4pm, come to CASA for a cuppa.
- Wednesday 15 April – 10am to 1pm, youth BBQ Lunch at Youth Information and Referral Service (YIRS).
- Thursday 16 April – 5pm to 7pm, pizza night at the Salvation Army, 49 Gregory Street.
- Friday 16 April – 5pm to 8pm, dinner at Ozcare Men’s Hostel.

The Eagle Boys Happiness Fund is a ‘helping hand’ program designed to assist any person or group within Eagle Boys store communities who needs assistance.
